Domestic 70% handy packs of shade cloth are short enough to get the job done and minimise wastage. At 5 metres long x 1.83m High there are literally hundreds of uses around the home for this shade cloth.
Domestic 70% shade cloth is suitable for a wide range of applications such as fixing onto structures such as pergolas, and fences, as well as shadeing plants and pets. Domestic 70% is a high quality fabric that is easy to use. It can be attached to wood, wire, or other materials using Fixing Pins or Butterfly Clips. Handy packs are also available in the higher grade 90% Grade shade cloth.
This fabric is NOT suitable for applications where tensioning is applied such as shade-sails as it may exhibit stretching over time. Shade factors are nominal and may vary.
This shade cloth is available in rolls of 1.83m wide x 5m long. We do not sell cut lengths of shade cloth fabric.

No. It is a knitted fabric and uses a lock stitch construction. The cut edge will be raw but it will not unravel.
Domestic 70% shade cloth is not waterproof. If you need waterproof shade cloth we stock this product in 90% grade in Sandstone, Dark Green and Black, just browse for Waterproof Shadecloth.
The fabric is very colour fast however over the longer term some slight fading can occur when the fabric has been constantly exposed to environments of high UVR.
Domestic shade cloth is made with a tape filler to increase its opacity. This tape filler is knitted into the fabric between the strands of monofilament. Think of monofilament as being like fishing line. When it is knitted together it forms a fabric, in this case, shade cloth.
The difference between domestic and commercial shade cloth is that commercial shade cloth is 100% monofilament (knitted fishing line). It has no tape filler. This makes commercial shade cloth very strong and suitable for use under tension. Domestic shade cloth is not suitable for high tension applications such as shade sails because the tape filler stretches at a different rate than the monofilament. Domestic shade cloth is designed to be spread over a framework, like a pergola, not tensioned out like a shade sail.

Shadecloth is designed to reduce the temperature underneath and is a knitted fabric, thus is porous. Accordingly, it will not provide a full visual block. 70% shade cloth is commonly used in the building industry to reduce visibility around building sites. It can still be clearly seen through and this product is not recommended for privacy screening.
Note, due to the knitted construction of the fabric eyelets are not necessary as long as the fabric is attached at regular intervals with cable ties, butterfly clips, hog rings or other suitable methods.
