Can I install this shade structure myself?

SolarMax 5 Series Shade Structures are designed for installation by suitably qualified handy persons. Installation will typically involve working on ladders, lifting pipes into position, drilling both masonry and steel, bolting pieces together and carrying our detailed mark-outs and measurements. If you are not confident with any of these procedures, we suggest that you engage a suitably qualified professional to carry out the installation on your behalf.

Installing a shade structure is at a minimum, a 2-person job.

How long will it take to install?

If the Shade Structure is being concreted into the ground, then the installation will be a 2 stage process. Stage 1 setting the posts in concrete and then leaving the concrete to set for the required amount of time.

If the installation is of a bolt down type then it typically takes 2 experienced handy persons half a day to fully erect the structure.

What tools will I need?

  • A heavy duty drill
  • A masonry drill (for bolt down installations)
  • Some long ropes
  • Ladders
  • Hard hats, safety goggles, gloves and other safety equipment
  • Lubricant
  • Spanners
  • Tape measures and mark-out chalk
  • General handyperson set of tools

Do I need Council Approval?

In our experience many councils have different rules and regulations relating to the installation of shade sails and structures. If you are concerned, you could contact your local council to determine whether you are required to get approval to install one of these shade structures.

What is the warranty of this Shade Structure?

  • 5 Years Frame
  • 5 Years Workmanship Fabric
  • 10 Years Fabric against UV Degradation.

What’s the lead time?

Typically, it will take us 3-4 weeks to fabricate your shade structure and shade canopy. This depends on the time of the year. In the winter months it can be less while in the summer months it can be longer.

Can I leave this shade structure up all the time?

Yes, it is a permanent structure however, we strongly recommend that if you are in a Cyclone area or wind area where the wind speeds are known to be greater than W33 that you do not install this structure but purchase a stronger model.

This item requires us to discuss the delivery with the customer. This is because it can be more cost effective for the customer to source the steel pipes locally. This can save on freight. We can either ship this item as the kit-set with knuckles, foot-plates, canopy and fittings or, with the aforementioned items PLUS the posts, rafters and ridge-beam.

Your shade structure takes approximately 3-4 weeks to manufacture.  Once we have the structure canopy back from the factory we will contact you to arrange delivery. Once we dispatch your shade structure, we email you the Consignment Number.  This allows you to log onto the couriers website (e.g. TNT) and track your delivery so you know when it is going to be delivered.

We do our best to ensure your shade structure is packaged securely and arrives safely.

The cost of delivery reflects the actual cost of preparing the item for shipment and the courier charges.  Shipping for us is a service associated with getting your goods to you safely and smoothly.  We do not charge any profit margin on shipping.

The Solar Max Shade Structures come with a 5 Year workmanship warranty on the frame and fabric and 10 Year UV degradation warranty on the fabric.
